CORPOGUAJIRA host the first meeting node CLIMATE CHANGE AND CARIBBEAN ISLAND

After the need to carry out articulated actions against climate change, between the different actors of the national and regional order, and with the objective of improving the conditions of the most vulnerable population in the country against the negative effects of climate change, Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, has been assuming since the year 2012 the role of coordinator of the Caribbean and Island Regional Climate Change Node.

That is why at the main headquarters of Corpoguajira, The first meeting of the regional Caribbean and island climate change node was held this year. 2017, where the signing of the memorandum of understanding and operating regulations was made, by the governorates of Cesar, Magdalena, Sugar, Atlantic, Bolivar ; University of La Guajira, Cerrejón, National Parks, Risk coordination, autonomous corporations, Climate Change Directorate, foundations and mayors that are part of the node, who also participated in a space where information on climate change was updated, ratify the commitments of each of the members as established in the decree 298 of 2016 and the definition of actions that, according to their powers, must be carried out.

Likewise, the advances applied by each region to promote actions to reduce the vulnerability of the Caribbean and Island territory and increase their capacity for adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gases were announced., also promoting the participation of local and regional actors in the development of climate change processes.

This event was held in order to consolidate and reaffirm the comprehensive vision of Climate Change for the country., For this reason, it should be noted that the commitment and active participation of each of the members of the node is of vital importance in the search for a resilient Colombia with the capacity to respond quickly to the negative effects of climate change..
