The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira socialized with the inhabitants of Las Casitas, Cascajalito and Juan y Medio, localities located in the jurisdiction of the district of Riohacha, the execution of the works that will allow the communities to be provided with a continuous supply of drinking water. These works consist of the drilling of water wells and the construction of a plant that makes the liquid drinkable that will later be distributed to the populations mentioned above..
Thanks to what is stipulated in the contract 092 of 2015, The Solar Consortium will have the responsibility of executing the works that will make the dream of hundreds of families of having an alternative source for the permanent supply of drinking water come true., as are the aquifers, especially during seasons of severe drought like the current one, when the absence of precipitation prevents the supply of water through surface sources.
The execution of the works will consist of drilling wells, from which the water will be extracted, the construction of a water treatment plant and an elevated tank from which the liquid will be stored and distributed. It should be noted that this system will work with the impulse of electricity produced through solar energy., which will allow these aqueducts, have absolute autonomy from the conventional electrical grid.
This project will also have the active participation of the benefited communities, because labor can be used from them and one or more people who will be delegated for the periodic maintenance of the facilities that will be built will also be trained.. During socialization, the Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Medina, guaranteed that the entity will be rigorously monitoring the development of the works, to guarantee that drinking water service reaches the communities in the near future.
