Director Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro; He socialized with the inhabitants of Villanueva, Urumi, El Molino and Albania, the progress of several projects implemented by the environmental authority in the southern area of the department to contribute to the conservation of the biodiversity of the peninsula; Additionally, the works will be delivered with gabions, for flood protection on the right and left banks of the Arroyito (Los Remedios, India).
During the events, that will take place on the days 20 and 21 February 2015, Representatives of the Corporation will share with attendees the scope of important work carried out by the entity, among them:
– Development of technical studies, delimitation and formulation of the management plan for the declaration of a protected area in the Serranía de Perijá.
– Recovery of the Marquezote and Marquezotico river basin (Urumi).
– Property sanitation in areas of strategic importance for the conservation of Cerro Pintao and the Protective Forest Reserve of Montes de Oca.
– Reforestation and isolation in the middle basin of the El Molino River. – Production of seedlings of forest and fruit species in the permanent Urumita nursery.
– Development of studies for the delimitation of a wetland in El Molino.
These days, Representatives of the Government of La Guajira have been summoned, Departmental Assembly, entes territoriales, Municipal Councilors, productive sector, farmers, police and military forces; instituciones educativas, ONGs, media, leaders and members of the community in general.
