The alliance Threads that connect your heart with a Sustainable Guajira in which Corpoguajira participates, makes visible the environmental recovery strategy of the paradisiacal place.
the collection of 54.39 tons of solid waste with the participation of more than 2000 people was the result of the initiative implemented in Cabo de la Vela by the Threads that connect your heart with a Sustainable Guajira alliance, to which Corpoguajira joined as a visible action in compliance with its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact and a total of 20 organizations including companies at the national level, departmental and local.
The initiative seeks to create a solid waste management system administered by the inhabitants of Cabo de la Vela. This purpose is included in a project that goes to the 2020 and that seeks to reduce environmental pollution and thereby guarantee better living conditions for the inhabitants.
During the diagnostic phase of the project, A field study was carried out that allowed prioritizing 16 km in critical condition due to the management of garbage that goes from the community of La Arema to Cabo de La Vela. It should be noted that the execution of the project includes three stages: Diagnosis, Implementation and Monitoring.
During the collection day, experts from the alliance advanced the sealing of the Cabo de la Vela garbage dump that will make it possible to gain space for the construction of a sports arena for children and young people from nearby communities.
The alliance, in which Corpoguajira participated as the environmental authority of the department is headed by Pavimentos de Colombia, Hotel Waya Guajira, Servidelivery among others, equally prominent is the support of foundations, companies and public and private institutions such as Interaseo, mayor of Uribia and the departmental administration.
The signing of this alliance, made it possible to formalize business leadership and assume a public commitment on the part of the companies with a view to transforming the reality of La Guajira within the framework of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
