Corpoguajira signed an inter-institutional pact to combat environmental crimes

With the holding of the Summit against Environmental Crimes, Corpoguajira and the competent authorities defined an inter-institutional strategy, coordinated and articulated to effectively combat infractions such as forest clearing and illegal mining, that day by day contribute to the loss of water resources and the biological diversity of La Guajira.

As part of the event, an Interinstitutional Pact was signed, through which efforts will be combined, human resources, technological, intelligence, military, technical and logistical; to effectively combat environmental crimes on the peninsula.

Among the agreements established, It is important to mention the judicialization of environmental offenders, the seizure of machinery used to carry out illegal mining practices and greater support from public forces in areas of ecological interest.

Through the Pact, Corpoguajira, the military authorities, entes territoriales, the Attorney General's Office and the Judicial Prosecutor's Office, Environmental and Agrarian; committed to comply with their legal powers in environmental protection, to have the personnel assigned to their institutions available to safeguard the environment and natural resources; to carry out individual actions and inter-institutional coordination necessary for regulatory measures to be adopted and sanction environmental offenders, in accordance with those established in Colombian laws.

The activity was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Military Authorities, control entities, territorial entities and community leaders from several municipalities of La Guajira.
