For violation of environmental regulations, sanitary and land use, all activities carried out in clandestine pig slaughterhouses located in the Santander neighborhood of the municipality of Maicao were suspended.

During the inspection, which was made up of Corpoguajira officials, National Police, Police Inspector, ICA and planning officials and health secretariat of the municipality of Maicao, it was found that the establishments did not have the minimum conditions necessary to guarantee the quality of the product slaughtered there, They lacked the respective documentation for the operation of the establishments and even the floor was incompatible with the activity they carry out.

It was found, also, that the waters generated during the activity were discharged directly to the sewer; that in these places wood burning is used to cook products that are used in the slaughter of pigs, generating a large amount of smoke in and around the sites.

Given the effects found, the authorities told the owners of the establishments that they will not be able to continue carrying out said activities in these places because they are violating environmental regulations., sanitary and land use. We will proceed to monitor compliance with the measure by the Police and the Mayor's Office of Maicao.
