Riohacha, 24 November 2020
In a meeting held this morning both the General Director of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, Samuel Lanao Robles and the Mayor of San Juan del Cesar, Alvaro Diaz, They agreed to carry out all the necessary short-term procedures that allow the construction of the sewage system in the towns of La Junta., Curacao and La Peña.
Both the Director of Corpoguajira and the Municipal Mayor, They will move to Bogotá next week in order to make contacts with FINDETER and the Ministry of Housing, City and Territory to carry out the administrative procedures of the case that allow guaranteeing the resources and continuity of the project while the new technical and environmental alternatives that make the construction of the works viable are defined and processed..
In addition, The municipality must file with the environmental authority a request for permits corresponding to the new proposed alternatives with which it is intended to minimize the environmental impacts derived from the project., especially due to discharge into a body of water, as initially proposed.
It is worth remembering that in February of this year, four requests for permits associated with the aforementioned sewer project were filed with Corpoguajira., corresponding to discharge, channel occupation, forestry exploitation and sanitation plan and waste management. After a rigorous technical analysis of the designs and environmental aspects contemplated, it was concluded that according to the proposal presented, it is not feasible to grant permits because the proposed discharge point is not technically appropriate since the receiving source, the San Francisco River, does not have the capacity to assimilate the discharge..
Director Corpoguajira, has expressed the full willingness of the entity and its team of professionals to support and seek joint solutions to this and all projects that seek the benefit of communities, always guaranteeing compliance with Colombian regulations and the conservation of natural resources..
