The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira - Corpoguajira- and the Association of Cattle Ranchers of the Department, signed an agreement through which they will implement actions that guarantee the sustainability of the productive chains of the agricultural sector through the zero deforestation strategy.

Through this alliance, the planting of 30.000 trees throughout the peninsula, in order to contribute to the conservation of ecosystems, biodiversity and water resources; this is how Samuel Lanao Robles explained it, General Manager Corpoguajira, who also pointed out that work will be carried out for the preventive management of fire, with pyro-resistant vegetation barriers, "All this will allow us to have a respectful relationship towards natural resources and promote the processes carried out by the Corporation in terms of the sustainable green business program".

Likewise, stated that the agreement includes commitments to strengthen knowledge management in the protection, recovery and sustainable use of water sources in agricultural production, by incorporating this dimension in all the processes of this economic sector. Similarly, the work points to an adequate disposal of waste and dumping resulting from said activity.

Meanwhile, the president of the La Guajira Cattle Ranchers Association, Milagros Ojeda, He exalted the importance of establishing an alliance with the environmental authority and generating actions that allow mitigating the effects of climate change.

"We will plant trees in the grasslands, fields, streams and springs that we have in the department of La Guajira. In addition to it, We will guarantee the sustainability of these individuals so that our animals have a greater well-being, making each area of ​​the field more productive and sustainable; i.e., a more environmentally friendly field ".

It should be noted that the validity of the agreement is two years; period in which the participation of different institutions and the community in general will also be included.
