Corpoguajira and the World Food Plan FORMAN 24 FACULTY OF ADVERSE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON THE RIVER BASIN SHRIMP

In the final phase of the agreement signed between WFP and Corpoguajira, Camarones River Basin pilot project, A workshop course is being held on the environmental problems of climate change and food and nutritional security with a focus on gender and domestic violence..

Journalists from La Guajira 24 teachers from six educational institutions in the Camarones River pilot basin, They work jointly with Corpoguajira officials, ICBF and PMA in the generation of tools that raise awareness in the educational community about the importance of caring for natural resources as sources of food and improvement of living conditions.

The educational tools or Environmental Eco-Guides are generated as a comprehensive model of environmental problems from the ecosystemic and sociocultural perspective., having as the unit of analysis the hydrographic basin and the Afro-descendant and Wayuú communities found within the area.

Son 9 the topics chosen to substantiate the Environmental Eco-Guides, among which are: knowing my basin, food and nutritional insecurity and gender approach, water and soils of the basin, hunting and sustainable fisheries, adverse effects of climate change, community early warnings and territorial food guides; this being the recognition of the agricultural production of the ecosystem and its endemic species, inter alia.

It should be noted that the initiative to work with teachers on the issue of the impact of climate change on food security is due to the governance and sustainability policy that Corpoguajira applies in each of its projects, recognizing the strength that the new generations have for this., since this interest group is the most vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

This innovative project is expected to, transcends to other basins in the department and at the national level. Corpoguajira, will do the accompaniment, follow-up and monitoring of the implementation of this educational project in the different educational centers of the basin.
