The project will contribute to the knowledge and conservation of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Director Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro; chaired the opening ceremony of the School of Nature Sugueja; a wonderful place located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Width between the rivers and Palomino (Dibulla, La Guajira), where bio-visitors can enjoy a unique experience, to reflect on the relationship between man and his environment.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development, Councillors Corpoguajira, the Government of La Guajira, members of the Kogi and ethnicities Arhuaca; Corpamag, Mayor of Uribia, organizations and companies committed to environmental conservation and natural resources.

The School is a scenario that will transform the eco-tourism bio-visits, and make the encounter with the Kogi Indians, the opportunity to take a new stance toward nature. Further training will be advanced and lines of research aimed at the conservation of species such as Guáimaro be implemented, with interest, Marimonda, Curassow, Morrocoy, inter.

The focus of the bio-visitors, It is located in the village of Río Ancho (Dibulla), place that becomes the starting point for a tour that will allow nature lovers a wonderful experience, where you can admire the majesty of the Buenavista Nature Reserve, cloud forest Atelopus, the Wimangaga station, The Orangery waterfall, inter alia. The school also provides an opportunity to share with Arhuacos and be part of their ancient traditions. The descent is made by the Palomino river, up to its mouth in the Caribbean Sea.

Prior to project implementation, Corpoguajira, Native Foundation and Kogi, conducted a consultation from the indigenous ancestral vision, considering that for the ethnic groups living in the Sierra Nevada, this ecosystem is the place that concentrates all responsibility to the rest of the universe and is the site from where it is monitored and custody sacred and vital for the planet.
