Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, signed an agreement interadministrativo, with the purpose of combining technical and financial efforts to develop the characterization of active and transitory small-scale mining operations, that take place in the municipalities of Riohacha, Maicao, Dibulla, Manaure, Hatonuevo, Fonseca, San Juan del Cesar, Villanueva and Uribia; taking into account legal aspects, technical, economic, social and environmental.
The alliance contributes to strengthening the processes of the Mining Formalization Policy in these towns and promoting technical development, geological-mining, economic, social and environmental sustainability, aimed at improving productive conditions, social and ecological in the peninsula.
The above evidences the commitment of the Corporation in the exercise of environmental authority., carrying out sanctioning processes against violators of the Law 1333 of 2009; but also offering alternatives to carry out the activity of using natural resources with responsibility and sustainability..
