Four caught by illegal mining in La Guajira

During a due diligence inspection by Corpoguajira and National Police, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, They were captured, in the act, four people dedicated to the practice of illegal gold mining.

The detainees were identified as Nilo Rafael Paternina, Daimer Sicafa Zábala, Bercelio Sicafa Zabala and Entoh Ojeda Ramirez; who were available to the authorities. The events occurred in Minguo (Dibulla).

Additionally they seized the tools with which carried out the wrongdoing.

The exercise of illegal mining, besides being a crime punishable by imprisonment in prison with sentences ranging from 48 and 108 months in prison, in accordance with the Law 1453 of 2011, also causes significant damage to rivers and water bodies that supply the aqueducts of towns and cities, likewise causes erosion, avalanches and destruction of the ecosystem.
