Ecotienda Wayúu: socio-environmental space conversion

 

Corpoguajira and Cerrejón Foundation Indigenous Guajira, performed the opening of the Wayuu Ecotienda Out>Kajapüle, which functions as a space for promotion and marketing of works by eight indigenous communities Aremasain (Manuare), including crafts stand, agricultural products, Apiculture and non-timber forest; helping to eliminate the problems associated with illegal wildlife trafficking, is that part of the department of La Guajira.

The Ecotienda, It has an area of 48 square Metres. During the process of building a training plan developed, in which they participated 752 people of the allied communities, which they are formed on issues related to wood carving, Reciclarte; Sports training, solid waste management, Leadership and entrepreneurship.

The project allows the reactivation of the rural economic line, between the municipalities of Riohacha, Manaure y Maicao. The Ecotienda serves the whole community interested in acquiring products friendly to the environment and to support this initiative that promotes the conservation of wildlife.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Medina Toro; Cerrejon President, Roberto Junguito Pombo; Traditional authorities Wayuu, representatives of Cerrejón Foundation Indigenous Guajira, inter alia.
