The announcement was made by Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development Forum under the "Realities and Challenges of Water Resources in La Guajira", held last 16 December in the Sierra Nevada lounge, Cultural center (Riohacha).

The head of the portfolio of MADS praised the work of the Corporation in relation to the management of natural resources, especially water sources. It also highlighted the efficient management of the entity in fulfilling his duties as a top environmental authority of the department.

Among the criteria that meets the Corporation for this public recognition, It is the work that is being developed with communities through the strategy "Corpoguajira Closer", initiative which has achieved great results.

Likewise, by the application in the management of water resources with environmental management according to the department and the concept of sustainable development.

Corpoguajira has been promoting the integrated management of river basins as a planning and management intersectoral. Thence, the realization of the Forum, as space allowed to know the reality of water resources in La Guajira and implementation of policies of comprehensive protection of water resources, floor, vegetation and biodiversity.

The MADS recognizing the leading role of the Corporation, supports any initiative that contributes to a change of attitude among the inhabitants of the department regarding the responsible management of natural resources.

The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS) in accordance with established roles in Law 99 of 1993, He has the power to direct and coordinate the planning and harmonious implementation of activities of the entities within the National Environmental System (HIS) and among them, Regional Autonomous Corporations and Sustainable Development (CAR).
