In Public Hearing Corpoguajira socialized the progress of its action plan and the actions developed during 2021

The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, held the public hearing to socialize with the community in general, control entities, NGOs, citizen oversight groups, among other institutions the progress of its action plan 2020-2023.

During the event, the general director, Samuel Lanao Robles, led a conservatory with the leaders of each process carried out by the environmental entity, highlighting the most significant achievements during 2021 and their contributions to the Regional Environmental Management Plan.

“We culminated this exercise of transparency and citizen participation with a highly positive balance. It is vitally important to share each of the actions that we are implementing in the institutional programs to comply with our action plan and, of course, to our mission. Work continues on 2022 and 2023 with the commitment of our officials and hand in hand with each of the organizations and institutions that support the management of Corpoguajira”, explained Lanao Robles.

In addition, highlighted the work on mitigation and adaptation to climate change, among which stood out the rehabilitation of 113 windmills to supply water to several Wayúu communities. Similarly, the acquisition of 11 new stations of the early warning system, that strengthen the disaster risk management component.
In relation to the protection of strategic ecosystems, the environmental authority specified that in the past period the declaration of the Soil Conservation District was registered, with an extension of more than 21.000 has, between the municipalities of La Jagua del Pilar, Urumi, Villanueva and El Molino.

Among the actions of the exercise of environmental authority, They registered 214 control operations against illegal trafficking of flora and fauna; the realization of 504 environmental monitoring; 4.492 seizures of fauna species and more than 60.000 kilos of charcoal.

During the public hearing, the work carried out in the environmental education components was also socialized., water monitoring, wildlife conservation, green business, institutional strengthening, among other lines of action.

It should be noted that the event provided answers to the concerns sent by the attendees. The activity was carried out in person, in the Corpoguajira auditorium and through Facebook.
