One of the species that is classified in the national threat category is the feline., due to increasing human-carnivore mammal conflict and illegal hunting, to the point that money is offered for the head of each animal sacrificed.

In the department, The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, implements actions that allow the conservation of feline populations present in rural areas of the municipalities of Albania, Barrancas, Fonseca, San Juan del Cesar, El Molino y Riohacha.

Comprometida con su misión institucional, Corpoguajira, signed an agreement with the Caribbean Environmental Heritage Foundation, to carry out characterization work and know the state of vulnerability of felines and create strategies for their conservation.

If felines disappear or decrease, An entire ecosystem would be affected and this would have negative consequences for human beings., Because in the absence of older cats the population of their prey would increase.
