Jorge Pacheco Pertuz, during his intervention in the socialization of significant experiences in citizen environmental participation

With the results obtained through the Red Guajira Verde project, Corpoguajira was present at the event “Socialization of Significant Experiences in Citizen Environmental Participation”, which was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the ECOFONDO Corporation. The activity took place in Villa de Leyva (Boyacá), day 30 and 31 January and February 1st 2012.

The fundamental purpose of the meeting was to share at the national level citizen participation processes developed in environmental management within each CAR jurisdiction., and the socialization of experiences that contain a demonstrable and tangible impact on people's quality of life., This being the result of effective joint work between different sectors of society.: public, private and civil.

Thus, Corpoguajira selected as a significant experience of citizen participation in environmental management, the actions carried out through the Guajira Verde Network, through which leadership strategies were developed, communication, education and citizen environmental actions aimed at contributing to the sustainability of the environment, achieving the training of 1.300 leaders through diplomas in Leadership and Sustainable Development and Education and Citizen Participation.

The Network had volunteer leaders, who visited more than 15.000 homes throughout La Guajira to hold a day of awareness and environmental awareness on the proper management of solid waste, and actions to practice from home “Environmental Intelligence”, managing to reach more than 42.700 people who listened and actively participated.

With the participation of Corpoguajira in this important activity, The entity announced once again before the rest of the country, the commitment that it has been developing to fulfill its institutional mission in relation to the processes of environmental education and citizen participation.
