THE DIRECTOR OF CORPOGUAJIRA, ARCESIO ROMERO, IN THE COMPANY OF A GROUP OF STUDENTS, OFFICIALS OF THE ENTITY AND MEMBERS OF THE GREEN MIRACLES CORPORATION

With the purpose of implementing educational and methodological actions to achieve by the Guajira community, the voluntary delivery of household waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), the highest environmental authority of the department and the Corporación Milagros Verdes, signed an association agreement, through which they have contributed to citizen awareness in the proper disposal of this waste, thus promoting the protection and conservation of the environment in Riohacha.

With this important initiative, several voluntary collection campaigns for WEEE were carried out., in which they were obtained 320 kilograms of these residues, divided between batteries, battery, cell phones, calculators, chargers, printers, monitors, inter alia, which were delivered Lito Ltda, one of the five national companies with an environmental permit to recycle WEEE.

“The proper management and final disposal of WEEE depends on everyone and on a strategy appropriate to the magnitude of the problem., unusual case in Colombia, since much of the management is done in an uncontrolled way, casual and confusing. That is why we successfully advanced this program, achieving optimal results”, Manifesto Arcesio Romero Perez, General Manager Corpoguajira.

THROUGH THE PROJECT, THE INHABITANTS OF RIOHACHA VOLUNTARILY DELIVERED 320 KG OF WASTE FROM HOUSEHOLD ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT.

As part of this work, it was also possible to sensitize 800 families during 10 field practice sessions, made in Riohacha and Camarones, in order to make the population clear about this issue, offering valuable and unknown information for most of the participants, such as the problem of WEEE, learn to distinguish them, its danger to health and the environment, and high emphasis on the need to prevent such waste from being disposed of with everyday waste, given the complexity of its components.

Other activities carried out were training sessions in Riohacha schools and the application of surveys to measure the specific knowledge that the population has about WEEE..
