In order to evaluate ecosystem goods and services biogeographical Cerro Pintao (Urumi), Node Ecotourism La Guajira, Ecological Guardians of Nature Foundation and the Ecological Foundation Bicentennial Cerro Pintao, They conducted an expedition with the purpose of establishing the possibility of advancing in the future ecotourism activities, as a strategy to promote sustainable development in the region.

The activity was coordinated by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira (Corpoguajira), and was supported SENA, the University of La Guajira, Unit of National Natural Parks of Colombia and Rondon Battalion.

"We conducted an evaluation exercise and recovery initiatives and environmental management biogeographical Cerro Pintao, orienting our approach on the need to recover degraded areas, control deforestation and activities harmful to the ecosystem and promote activities to ensure environmental sustainability of this important area ", Manifesto Arcesio Romero Perez, General Manager Corpoguajira.

As part of the expedition, georeferencing activities of routes and sites of interest were made ecoturístico, recognition of the state of art of ecosystems of the biogeographic unit Cerro Pintao, study of existing avifauna in place, where large populations and exotic species found; photographic and video record, on the scenic beauty of the hill, entre otras acciones.

The results of the expedition, environmental sanitation strategic areas proposed, with influences in hatching machines of rivers. For this working in joint action to enable Corpoguajira, Mayor of Urumita and the Government of La Guajira, acquire land in Cerro Pintao and exercise their governance. Similarly it is to establish alliances with environmental organizations that participated in the tour, to advance work contributing to recovery, control, monitoring and management of these areas, and sustainable use in activities related to nature tourism.
