TRAINING YOUNG LEADERS WITH ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS

The Am Happy Educational Institution – Cardinal International School has been characterized since the moment of its opening by creating environmental awareness among the student community and parents., as information replicators. In the year 2015 for the first time they were godfathers of marine ecosystems, through the strategy and “Sponsor a turtle and carry it in your heart”, a Corpoguajira activity developed in order to promote the conservation of this threatened species.

The institution attends annual releases, just like it happened last Saturday 3 November where, thanks to the seizure of the National Police on the Uribia road, two turtles were rescued, a carey (Eretmochelys imbricata) and a green (Chelonia mydas) approximately 30 year old, The institution articulated again with Corporguajira to provide a space to raise awareness for students, teachers and parents while these two individuals returned home.

In the middle of the day, the Casa Ecológica Foundation and the corporation's biodiversity team who were part of the rehabilitation process of these species, They explained to the attendees the importance of turtles, its characteristics, feeding, and different data that manage to generate awareness in human beings.

Lia Barros, director of Am Happy – Cardenal International School appreciates the support and exercise of environmental authority in creating spaces for the improvement of environmental practices and from the institutional framework reinforces its commitment to training young agents of change, committed to nature, the ecosystems and conservation of the fauna and flora of the department of La Guajira.
