Heavy rains could cause sudden floods in the rivers of La Guajira

Corpoguajira, through the Early Warning System office, informs emergency authorities that heavy rains will occur over the next few days, Therefore, the possibility of electrical storms in the vicinity of the Serranía del Perijá and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is not ruled out.. Additionally, the probability of sudden floods in the rivers that descend from these mountain systems is very high., as well as the occurrence of landslides, gales and floods.

Corpoguajira recommends having special and permanent surveillance of the rivers (Tapias, Sherry, Reeds, Width, Palomino and Villanueva). The highest environmental authority calls on the Councils (Departmental and Municipal) for Disaster Prevention and Attention and to the community in general, to adopt preventive measures that contribute to preventing emergencies that may arise in their jurisdiction.

Corpoguajira makes the following specific recommendations:

-Keep Calm emergency in all circumstances.
