The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Gabriel Vallejo López; Director Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro, Governor of La Guajira, José María Ballesteros Valdivieso; Director of the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Idea), Omar Franco Torres and Assistant Director of the Unit for Disaster Risk Management, Richard Vargas; presided over a press conference at which related to El Niño aspects and the dry season were addressed in La Guajira.

Speaking, the Minister of Environment, He explained that the formation of El Niño, will bring potential climatic effects will be felt for the first quarter, including declining rainfall, increasing temperatures, the occurrence of forest fires and the reduction of water supply for the agriculture, animal husbandry, energy, health and drinking water. Meanwhile, the Director General of Corpoguajira, indicated that the environmental authority has participated in the construction of wells for water supply, and delivery of liquid through tank trucks, Wayuu communities benefiting from the Middle and Upper Guajira.
