The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Gabriel Vallejo López; Governor of La Guajira, José María Ballesteros Valdivieso and the Director of Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro; will preside tomorrow, 20 January 2015, a press conference in which aspects related to the El Niño Phenomenon and the drought season in La Guajira will be addressed.
The event will take place from the 10:00 am, at the Corpoguajira facilities. The Director of the Institute of Hydrology will also participate in the activity, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Idea), Omar Franco Torres and the Director of the Disaster Risk Management Unit, Carlos Ivan Marquez Perez.
The National Government and Corpoguajira, have stated that the possible climatic effects of the phenomenon, during the first quarter of the year, will be the decrease in rain, increasing temperatures, the occurrence of forest fires and the reduction of water supply for the agriculture, animal husbandry, energy, health, tourism and drinking water.
