Government and departmental entities, convened a press conference on El Niño

The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Gabriel Vallejo López; Governor of La Guajira, José María Ballesteros Valdivieso and the Director of Corpoguajira, Luis Manuel Medina Toro; will preside tomorrow, 20 January 2015, una rueda de prensa en la que se abordarán aspectos relacionados con el Fenómeno de El Niño y la temporada de sequía en La Guajira.

The event will take place from the 10:00 am, en las instalaciones de Corpoguajira. En la actividad también participarán el Director del Instituto de Hidrología, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Idea), Omar Franco Torres y el Director de la Unidad de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres, Carlos Iván Márquez Pérez.

El Gobierno Nacional y Corpoguajira, han manifestado que los posibles efectos climáticos del fenómeno, durante el primer trimestre del año, serán la disminución de las lluvias, increasing temperatures, the occurrence of forest fires and the reduction of water supply for the agriculture, animal husbandry, energy, health, turismo y agua potable.
