GUAJIRA GREEN, REALITY BY MASSIVE SOWING OF CORPOGUAJIRA

Corpoguajira advances in the reality of reforestation for the conservation of dry forests and the creation of green belts in the department. October, world tree month, became the ideal time period for planting more than 3000 trees throughout La Guajira.

In this great sowing, that has not yet ended,The priority is the rural area of each municipality.

This preference was conceived through the Interinstitutional Committee on Environmental Education (Cide) formed in Maicao, Manaure and Riohacha, by the civil organizations of the remaining municipalities, that they found in the Citizen Environmental Education Projects (PROCEED) the opportunity to expand and conserve the green area of each benefited area.

The compliance required by Corpoguajira from Electricaribe S.A.. E.S.P., of 5.000 trees in compensation for logging permits for the conservation of their electrical networks, They allowed the delivery of the seedlings to the requesting organizations of each of the municipalities assisted by Corpoguajira for the planting days.

On the other hand, Corpoguajira advances in the formulation of the Forests of Peace project in areas of armed conflict that will allow the conservation 90 hts of dry forests and strengthen green belts as an environmental asset in memory of the victims of the armed conflict that took place in Dibulla, Riohacha and Maicao.

This national policy of reconciliation with the environment and with the victims will also allow, benefit 90 peasants or farmers with Banco2 projects and with silvopastoral and agroforestry projects that serve as a natural barrier for the conservation of tree species threatened by various environmental and anthropic factors.

The areas where the Peace Forests will be implemented are, by national requirement, those that cover a contiguous reserve area or strategic ecosystems and are referents of the armed conflict.. In this order of ideas, peace forests will be implemented in the municipalities of Dibulla, Casa Japan path that covers the ecosystem area near the Sierra Nevada where the Lagarto River, a tributary of the Jerez River, is born.; en Riohacha, in Cerro Bañadero between the towns of Morenero and Juan y Medio that covers the Rio Tapias basin, and, in Maicao, Garrapetero township village Colombia Free jurisdiction protective forest reserve Montes de Oca.
