IMPLEMENT THE PORTETE BAYS FISHERIES MANAGEMENT, HONDITA IN LA ALTA GUAJIRA, A NEW CHALLENGE OF INTERINSTITUTIONAL ARTICULATION

Among the objectives of the initiative is to improve living conditions, social development, economic and cultural communities.

In order to advance in the inter-institutional articulation with the municipality of Uribia that contributes to the implementation of the strategy of linking artisanal fishing communities of the Portete bays, Honda and Hondita in Alta Guajira, A participation meeting was held at the facilities of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira for the current process of fisheries management in Alta Guajira, led by the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Authority. AUNAP.

Representatives of Corpoguajira participated in the meeting headed by its General Director, Samuel Lanao Robles, the mayor of Uribia, Bonifacio Henríquez Palmar, asesores técnicos de German Society for International Cooperation (CHALK) GmbH, entity that within the framework of the Integrated Coastal Marine Management project (MIMAC) supports and facilitates the fisheries management process.

With this inter-institutional articulation, the aim is to join efforts that facilitate rapproche, Relationship and convocation of local artisanal fishing communities that allow, in the short term, to have the participation of representatives of the communities of the three bays in dialogue spaces for the participatory and inclusive construction of the Fisheries Management Plan (POP).

The Director General of the environmental authority and the mayor of the indigenous capital of Colombia were optimistic with this inter-institutional articulation and with the process of fisheries management, because it is beneficial to local fishing communities and their territories. Likewise, becomes a strategy of co-responsibility in the integral management of fishery resources.
