The mockingbird, It is a species of bird that is characterized by being a small animal; adults measure 25 cm and weigh 54 g, his head and upper parts are gray, they have yellow eyes, a white eye patch and dark stripes across the eye. The underparts are whitish and the wings are blackish, with two white stripes on the wings and white edges on the flight feathers. They have a long dark tail, with the tips of white feathers, a slender black bill with slightly downward curvature and long dark legs.

Currently, the populations of Mimus gilvus have decreased significantly in the department of La Guajira., mainly due to overhunting for sale as songbirds.

Corpoguajira invites the community to protect the birds, their nests, their ecosystems, and not to hunt and / or traffic them, since they reforest the natural forests, dispersing native seeds and with their presence beautifies the landscape of the department.
