The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira is permitted to inform the media and public opinion that in order to address different complaints, requests from the community and the Environmental and Agrarian Attorney's Office, related to the collapse caused by the repair of the bridge that connects the town of Villamartín (Rural area Riohacha) with the municipality of Albania, imposed through the Resolution 2306 the 21 December 2015, prior verification visit, preventive measure of suspension of works in the Department of La Guajira due to the occupation of the Quebrada Moreno stream channel, for not having the proper permission from the environmental authority. Additionally, the Department was requested to repair, immediately, the disturbed area in order to avoid temporary damming, which present the risk of being greater to the extent that the amount of liquid flowing through there suddenly increases., generating a risk to downstream communities.

Only until the first week of March 2016, The Government of La Guajira requested the lifting of the preventive measure and required permission to occupy the channel from this Corporation.. 

After exhausting the corresponding process of these proceedings, in accordance with the provisions of current environmental regulations, Corpoguajira through the Resolution 0846 the 21 April 2016, granted the channel occupation permit. Later, through Resolution 0887 the 27 April 2016 the preventive measure was lifted, in accordance with the provisions of the Law 1333 of 2009.

Corpoguajira states that any work carried out in the department that affects any natural resource, You must have the permits issued by this entity, in accordance with what is established in the Decree 1076 of 2015.
