To combat the environmental problems presented in the coastal area of ​​Bahía Portete (Uribia), Corpoguajira started a decontamination plan, which proposes alternative solutions to mitigate and prevent negative effects caused by human activities, that are altering the quality of the resources in this area of ​​the department.

As part of the actions to be advanced through the project, protrudes characterization of morphology and demographics of forest species and fauna, in the Bay Area, to know its current status and its management guide; additionally undertake environmental community awareness campaigns, in order to strengthen education in this area and mitigate the impacts in the area of ​​influence of this beautiful place in the north of the peninsula.

Another goal of the Corporation is to improve the relationship between people who are part of the communities settled in the vicinity of the project and the environment, a priority strengthening the sense of belonging, environmental awareness and rational use of natural resources. These efforts will also contribute to the quality of the environment and the conservation and preservation of the coastal area of ​​La Guajira, decreasing the degree of contamination of the same
