In La Guajira this date served to start the strategy "La Guajira Sow Life", with a goal of planting one million five hundred thousand trees up to 2023. The materialization of risk brings with it the reduction of the possibilities of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) in a 80%, which are focused on improving poverty conditions, hungry, health, sustainable consumption and production, Water, cities, weather, oceans and land of the poorest countries.

Corpoguajira calls for this department to take advantage of the celebration for the generation of a volunteer who works for environmental recovery and the construction of a different society, a sustainable economic model, a lifestyle that promotes respect for the environment as recognition of the factory of life, including human.

Colombia contributes to the world the 10% of the existing fauna and flora species. La Guajira has all the thermal floors allowing the development of 147 mammal species and 535 bird species, while they register 35 amphibian species corresponding to 4,5 % of the Colombian species, of which 7 are endemic (1,1%).

World environment day is celebrated from 1974. This day becomes the global platform to raise awareness of the need for the sustainable use of natural resources before they are exhausted., and with them, the life of man and species.
