The Board of Directors of Corpoguajira approved the Regional Environmental Management Plan of La Guajira – PGAR-, vigencia 2020 -2031. The document constitutes a strategic planning instrument that will guide environmental management and respond to challenges., priorities and problems in this sector.
In addition, It will be an essential input for the formulation or adjustments of policies, government plans and programs and an environmental determinant for the planning and territorial ordering processes.
"This achievement will allow us to guide the management in a coordinated manner, administration and use of renewable natural resources, to contribute from an environmental perspective to the consolidation of sustainable development alternatives in the short term, medium and long term, consistent with the biophysical characteristics and dynamics, economic, social and cultural of the department”, Samuel said Lanao Robles, General Manager Corpoguajira.
Likewise, He specified that the PGAR was built in a participatory manner between the Corporation, the entities and actors that influence the 15 municipalities of the jurisdiction, with the purpose of managing the environmental heritage of the peninsula.
The Plan was conceived taking into account prospective approaches, sustainable development, ecosystem, governance, economic, ecological structure and community participation; as explained by Fare Romero Peláez, Head of the Corpoguajira Planning Advisory Office, “Under these components the PGAR route was structured, taking into account the objectives, goals, strategies, indicators and a complete evaluation process of this important planning instrument”, Indian.
The strategic lines of the PGAR point to territorial environmental planning, risk management and climate change; comprehensive management of natural resources; community participation, environmental culture and institutional strengthening for regional environmental management.
It should be noted that the document responds, also, to the global objectives in terms of environmental sustainability and the challenges that the country and the region have with a view to improving the living conditions of all the inhabitants of La Guajira.
