Members of the Uribia and Manaure National Police participated in the release of the species..

Thanks to the opportune call of the community, a joint operation was carried out with members of the National Police, for the recovery of 10 sea ​​turtles which were in an abandoned area (indigenous area), on the road that leads from Uribia to Cabo de la Vela. In the diligence it was verified that the species were going to be commercialized in the municipality of Maicao.

The animals were handed over to officials of the Corporation's Environmental Management Subdirectorate for the purposes pertaining to the release., which took place on the beaches of Manaure.

The confiscation of the species corresponds to 6 green turtles (females) with an approximate weight of 40 kg each, 2 (males) of the same species, with a weight of 60 kg respectively; and 2 hawksbill turtles (females) of 35 weight kg.

The report indicates that the seized turtles were in good health, and met the conditions for their respective release into the sea.

Let us remember that the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (UICN), considers that the hawksbill sea turtle is a species considered critically endangered; while the green turtle, It is classified as an endangered species..
