Los 13 miembros del Consejo Directivo de Corpoguajira, reeligieron como Director General de la entidad ambiental a Luis Manuel Medina Toro, para la vigencia 2016 – 2019.

“Este hecho me compromete compromete, even more, to continue working as I have always done for more than 25 years of public life, for sustainability, prosperity and green growth of La Guajira, to make an articulated environmental management, participative and shared. We are going to exercise very rigorous vigilance in everything related to the use of natural resources in order to guarantee the preservation of our extensive biodiversity”, Toro said Luis Medina, after hearing the news of his appointment as Director General of Corpoguajira.

The new Director of the Corporation, He is an Industrial Engineer from the University of La Guajira, Master in Leadership and Environmental Management at the University for International Cooperation of Costa Rica and UCI Management Specialist Human Resources Universidad del Norte.

Has more than 15 years linked to the environmental sector, excelling in different positions within Corpoguajira as Head of the Advisory Office of Planning, Deputy Director of Planning, Coordinator of Strategic Planning, Coordinator of Human Resources Management, Administrative Coordinator and Director General in the life 2012-2015. During his career in the Corporation it has contributed significant achievements, including stand: incorporating environmental variables and risk management in development plans and land use planning to provide technical support to municipalities in the department; the implementation of Environmental Management System; the operation of the Early Warning System, which provides technical support for risk management and prevention to populations in conditions of threats by natural phenomena and with the maintenance by Icontec of ISO quality certifications 9001:2008, NTCGP 1000:2009 e IQNET.

It has also served as an advisor, business manager, writer and lecturer for different entities at the regional and national level.

For the selection of the new director of Corpoguajira, They were enrolled 23 hopefuls. They were selected 10 eligible, according to the requirements of the process.

“We will work in an articulated manner with the Government of La Guajira, with the Municipal Mayors, with the productive sector and all those who develop oriented activities conserve our natural resources ", Medina pointed Toro.
