Luis Medina Toro, He was elected as the new Director General of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, Corpoguajira. His appointment was made by the majority of members that make up the Board of the highest environmental authority, to manage the entity during the period 2012 – 2015.
"This new challenge me even more committed to continue working as I have always done in these 25 years of public life. We want to make an articulated environmental management, participative and shared. We will exert a very rigorous monitoring everything related to mining and port work, to ensure natural resources and biodiversity of La Guajira ", Toro said Luis Medina, after hearing the news of his appointment as Director General of Corpoguajira.
The new Director of the Corporation, He is an Industrial Engineer from the University of La Guajira, Master in Leadership and Environmental Management at the University for International Cooperation of Costa Rica and UCI Management Specialist Human Resources Universidad del Norte.
Has more than 15 years linked to the environmental sector, excelling in different positions within Corpoguajira as Head of the Advisory Office of Planning, Deputy Director of Planning, Coordinator of Strategic Planning, Coordinator of Human Resources Management and Administrative Coordinator. During his career in the Corporation it has contributed significant achievements, including stand: incorporating environmental variables and risk management in development plans and land use planning to provide technical support to municipalities in the department; the implementation of Environmental Management System; the operation of the Early Warning System, which provides technical support for risk management and prevention populations under conditions of natural phenomena and threats to the granting by ICONTEC quality certifications ISO 9001:2008, NTCGP 1000:2009 e IQNET.
It has also served as an advisor, business manager, writer and lecturer, different entities at the regional and national levels.
For the selection of the new director of Corpoguajira, They were enrolled 32 hopefuls. They were selected 13 eligible, according to the requirements of the process.
"We work in coordination with the Governor, with the Municipal Mayors, with the productive sector and all those who develop oriented activities conserve our natural resources ", Medina pointed Toro.
