Musichi is a protected area that has great potential for the development of different activities within the ecotourism and contemplation. It enjoys a wide variety of biotic resources and ecosystem of great value to the department of La Guajira, such as mangrove forests and thickets subxerofíticos characteristic of this part of the department that is located in the municipality of Manaure.
This protected area, is a suitable for ecotourism and bird watching thanks to the wide variety of resident and migratory species of dry forest that frequent the place permanently. Each of these environmental values, Musichi make the habitat of a large population of pink flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber ruber) and the most favorable for the species in the country, so the Regional Autonomous Corporations from other jurisdictions Corpoguajira made available to specimens from the illegal trafficking of wildlife to be rehabilitated and later released in that area.
The main objective of this protected area, It is to preserve the habitat to ensure the maintenance of the populations of pink flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber ruber) living there, as well as natural spaces that are used by a large group of migratory birds from the northern hemisphere and occupy that territory temporarily. In addition, it is a place of temporary residence, feeding and resting a large contingent of migratory birds which move along the edges of the marshes, lagoons and estuaries.
