Green businesses are strengthened with the support of Corpoguajira, European Union and Minambiente

Through this initiative, the work of 52 organizaciones, benefiting the 1.687 businessmen, generating 730 jobs.

Technical assistance includes capacity building, structuring improvement plans, support in green and digital marketing and training aimed at technical window teams in terms of knowledge generation.

A total of 52 Green business units of La Guajira have been strengthened through the articulated work between Corpoguajira, the European Union and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. The beneficiary organizations belong, inter alia, to ecotourism sectors, agroecology, solar energy, businesses for the restoration and use of inorganic waste.

This was stated by the General Director of Corpoguajira, Samuel Lanao Robles, during the visit of delegates from the multilateral organization and the National Government, who participated in a trade show, made in Riohacha, to know the progress of the project, “The program aims to provide development opportunities to vulnerable populations; helping to eradicate practices such as illegal mining, forest clearing and contamination of water sources. Our total gratitude for this great contribution that they make to the department with international cooperation resources ".

In addition, He specified that the beneficiary associations are part of the green business program led by the environmental authority, grouping 1.687 entrepreneurs of which the 57% they are women and he 43% mens, counting on the participation of young people, mothers head of household and ethnic population, reporting the generation of 730 jobs.

For her part, Sonia Tato, Head of Cooperation of the European Union, indicated that technical assistance includes capacity building, structuring improvement plans, thematic strategies, support in green and digital marketing and training aimed at technical window teams in terms of knowledge generation, "We are totally satisfied with what we have evidenced with this visit, since we see a lot of potential and all the interest with which the communities work. It is very gratifying to know that what they present to us in the written documents has a reality on the ground and is very feasible ".

Meanwhile, Katia Flórez, Director of Green Businesses of the Ministry of the Environment, assured that to give continuity to the project, an agreement was signed with the United Nations Development Program, aimed at optimizing the certification process processes, records, improvement of the business and innovation model approach, “It is worth what we are doing through this initiative that also seeks to achieve gender equality, the participation of young people and continue reaching out to all vulnerable populations affected by violence ".

It should be noted that the department's green business units produce and market handicrafts, organic coffee, ecotourism services, items made from recycled material, alternative energy solutions, inter alia. Through this management, The environmental authority ratifies its commitment to strengthening the Guajiro ventures that carry out their activities under a friendly approach to the environment.
