Regional node Caribbean Climate Change and Insular, committed to its management.

Regional Node and Insular Caribbean Climate Change met in Barranquilla, in order to consolidate the implementation of inter-agency actions to contribute to mitigation and reduced vulnerability of ecosystems in this area of ​​the country.

At the second meeting this body carried out during this year, CAR attended by representatives of the Atlantic, Magdalena, San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, Cartagena, Cordova, Sucre and La Guajira.

"The actions of Node, They will be aimed at promoting the implementation of practices that contribute to adaptation and reducing the effects of climate change in the Caribbean region, on the basis of the guidelines of national climate change policy designed by the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development ", Pinto Jaime Bermudez stated, Director –It- of Corpoguajira.

As part of the agenda developed at the meeting, It took place the presentation of the Law 1523 of 2012 by which the National Policy on Disaster Risk Management is adopted and the National System for Disaster Risk Management is set; additionally they unveiled the progress of pilot adaptation projects, the progress of the Action Plan Node also socialized and defined commitments for the second half of this year

Node Coordinator, Eliumat Maza Samper, who serves as Deputy –It- Environmental Management Corpoguajira, He explained that there is a Regional Action Plan, that is adapting to the new Law on Risk Management, which addresses seven strategic lines that stand between environmental awareness, technology transfer and support for local authorities to implement preventive actions thereon.
