To improve water management in the regions, the so-called Water Resources Councils for Cuenca and their technical secretariats should be created. Among their tasks, the Corporations have support for the creation and consolidation of said Councils..

Therefore, the corporation, in compliance with its institutional mission, has the obligation to form the Basin Council, that will serve as a consultation instrument for the different sectors.

That's why, that this Friday the Constitution Assembly of the Council of the Tapias River Basin and the Camarones River Basin and others direct to the Caribbean will be installed in the Corporation auditorium, as the completion of the process where the representatives of the different actors who have interests in the Basins were chosen ( institutions or communities).

According to the Resolution 0509 of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, The Basin Councils that will be formed are made up of eleven actors of which they are part: indigenous communities, peasant organizations, community boards, The academy, entes territoriales, inter alia.

Watersheds are home to a wide variety of plants and animals., Within them, agricultural and urban activities are presented., and provide many opportunities for outdoor recreation. By protecting the health of our watersheds, it is possible to preserve and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants. The hydrographic basin is the most appropriate territorial unit for environmental planning.
