PRAES strengthens environmental etnoeducación in La Guajira

Anaralito is the ethnic education institution that shelters more than 800 students at nine sites designed to educate young people mostly Wayuu. The visit of the director of Corpoguajira, Luis Medina Toro, the institution sealed the commitment of the environmental vision that the educational directive wants to give to the institution.

The ecological and environmental emphasis allowed the young learners to identify their environmental problems in one working day, prioritizing issues considered critical and that deserve the formulation of solutions together with the educational community..

The water from the wells and its brackish flavor prevent young people from hydrating after a strenuous sports day, solid waste management, the lack of trees that generate shade and with it spaces to share and strengthen the bonds of friendship, the construction of an ecological park, and the recovery of Wayuù orality and its ancestral content on the worldview and practices that show respect for the life of nature were, among others, the concerns identified in the young.

Corpoguajira advances its third workshop, this time with the teachers from the nine campuses that make up the Anaralito educational institution. The enthusiasm for building an Environmental Education Project – Documented PRAES, properly supported on real experiences of the daily experiences of the educational community is increasingly solid.

Ending the ancestral practice of logging and burning firewood to extract charcoal that affects the environment with its polluting gases is an initial purpose, create spaces for dialogue between the new generations and the tarauras (uncles) To recover orality that is rich in actions that show respect for nature is one of the strategies to document the meaning of fauna and flora from the wayuu worldview and plant native trees that resist high temperatures and the drought typical of our country. land to become habitat for many species, is the intention.

At the end of the day, young people and teachers sealed the commitment by joining hands and promising that this PRAES will be meaningful for all of Colombia.
