The Panthera onca, known as jaguar vulnerability is found, at the national level. This is the largest and most powerful of American cats, whose total length may reach about 2.6 m and a weight close to 160 kg; its robust head and strong jaws, its coloration is highly variable and completely black individuals are quite common.
They have been seen present in the Montes de Oca Protective Forest Reserve, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and in the Serranía del Perijá Integrated Management District. The jaguar inhabits forested areas., grasslands, woodlands and wetlands.
They are carnivores, Their diet is made up of medium and large vertebrates., jaguars being solitary predators that mostly walk in pairs during their reproductive period, giving birth to one to four young per birth after a gestation period of about three months. The Jaguar has been largely eradicated due to the high value of its fur and considering it a threat to livestock and humans..
