The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira, the Ministry of Environment, the National Environmental System, Special Administrative Unit of National Parks, the National Police and the Ombudsman's Office; signed the agreement of wills with which the formation of the Regional Table for Environmental Control of La Guajira is made official, which will exercise functions in the territory under the jurisdiction of Corpoguajira.
The table was with the purpose of coordinating the institutions around the Green Growth policy implemented by the National Government. Its main objective will be to facilitate inter-institutional management for territorial environmental defense and control through dialogue scenarios and coordination of activities of common interest between them., tending towards the construction of solutions to aspects related to the strengthening of environmental management at the national level. The institutions that signed this agreement, They commit to working together in the environmental management of La Guajira.
Among the commitments acquired by the signatory institutions of the agreement, The implementation of strategies and plans that seek to protect the natural resources of our department stands out., tackling problems such as tree felling, illegal mining, illegal hunting and trafficking of wild species and the illegal appropriation of water resources.
The Environmental Control Board is also made up of the National Army, the Comptroller General of the Republic, the Attorney General's Office and the Environmental and Agrarian Attorney's Office, entities that will also support citizen participation in environmental management through education and training strategies that raise awareness among the inhabitants of La Guajira about the importance of complying with the established environmental standards which have been created to guarantee the sustainable development of the department..
