In order to execute coordinated and articulated actions for the sustainable management of the urban-rural area of the municipality of Maicao and strengthen the spaces for inter-institutional coordination and citizen participation that contribute to the sustainability and quality of life of its residents., Cooperation Framework Agreement for the Strengthening of Urban Environmental Management was signed- Rural between the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira and the municipality of Maicao.
Among the activities to be carried out are the improvement of the quality of the habitat, ensuring the environmental sustainability of public services, mobility, and the protection of sustainable uses of the landscape and public space. Also manage the environmental sustainability of the processes developed in urban-rural areas.; Develop education and participation processes that contribute to the formation of citizens aware of their environmental rights and duties., promoting sustainable uses.
Similarly, identify, prevent and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities through comprehensive risk management of urban areas; Direct production and consumption patterns of the municipality's society towards environmental sustainability, contributing to the competitiveness of companies and the well-being of the population, generating supply and demand for more sustainable goods and services in the market, reducing pollution, conserving natural resources and promoting the sustainable use of biodiversity.
The agreement will have a duration of 3 years and may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties. It will be subject to citizen surveillance and control.
