Todo está listo para la siembra de 50.000 plantas en La Guajira, el Día del Árbol

Un grupo de líderes ambientales y comunales de los 15 municpios de La Guajira, serán los encargados de sembrar 50.000 plants, el 12 October 2013, fecha en la que se celebrará el Día Internacional del Árbol. La actividad es liderada por Corpoguajira, within the framework of programming 30 years of the entity.

Los árboles, que corresponden a especies frutales y nativas, serán plantados con la asesoría técnica de la Corporación; a través de ésta acción la autoridad ambiental apoya la estrategia nacional de mitigación de la huella de carbono, adicionalmente la gran jornada de reforestación contribuye con la mitigación de los efectos del calentamiento global en ésta zona del país.

Plantings will take place on 12 and 19 October 2013, as follows:

– 12 October: Riohacha, Maicao, Uribia, Manaure, Albania and Hatonuevo.

– 19 October: La Jagua del Pilar, Urumi, Villanueva, El Molino, San Juan del Cesar, Fonseca, Distracción, Barrancas and Dibulla.

The activities will start from the 8:00 am, and have the advice and support of Corpoguajira.

The reforestation day is supported by Cerrejón, Geceli by, Pacific Rubiales, Peninsula waters, Aså, Social Management Division of Cerrejón, Chevron, National Army, National Police, Red Together, University veedurías, Colba, Community Action Boards, leaders, environmental promoters, among other entities that have articulated work with the Corporation to contribute to a more prosperous and sustainable Guajira.

The celebration of Arbor Day was instituted in 1969 by the World Forestry Congress, in Rome. On that date it seeks to highlight the importance of trees in the life of planet Earth, Ecosystem, flora, wildlife and humans.
