Corpoguajira work contributes to the decontamination of Bahia Portete

To combat the environmental problems presented in the coastal area of ​​Bahía Portete (Uribia), Temporary Union Corpoguajira and Healthy Environment, Articulated work conducted that allowed the development and implementation of a decontamination plan in this area of ​​the northern department.

Communities under study were Puerto Nuevo, Piourekat and La Gran Vía; which participated in each stage of the project. Among the outstanding achievements conducting a socio-environmental diagnosis of the current situation on the shores of the Bay, could establish the point sources of pollution from waste; designing strategies to help with cleaning the area; a process of environmental community awareness generated, in order to strengthen education in this area and mitigate the negative effects caused in the area of ​​influence.

As part of the efforts advanced campaigns were also conducted to eradicate solid waste, which involved the active participation of communities.

The work helped to improve the relationship between the inhabitants of the high Guajira and the environment, a priority strengthening the sense of belonging, environmental awareness and rational use of natural resources.

In implementing the project also they involved the Ministry of Health and Risk Management in the municipality of Uribia and Navy.
