In order to contribute to the protection and maintenance of environmental goods and services of the Los Flamencos Sanctuary (SFF), a working group chaired by Fabio Velasquez was performed Rivadeneira, Mayor of Riohacha; Luis Manuel Medina Toro, General Manager Corpoguajira; Luz Elvira Angarita, Caribbean Territorial Director of National Parks; Marco Pardo, Head of the SFF, among other delegates.
During the activity a situational diagnosis of the area was carried out and an interagency alliance that includes some strategies that contribute to the conservation of this wonderful place of La Guajira was agreed, including, the implementation of the Management Plan Management Camarones River Basin, support the generation of eco-tourism projects, the implementation of restoration projects in tropical dry forest and mangroves.
Additionally also it agreed to strengthen strategic alliances with governmental actors, policivos, sectoral and community in order to develop a model of integrated management that allows greater control over the protected area.
The SFF is a territory, located in Camarones (Riohacha), con bogs, lagoons and extensive dry forest guarding a delicate ecosystem composed of multiple birds, peces, shellfish and plants. The area is one of the few in the Colombian Caribbean that still offers refuge to flamingos, beautiful pink plumage birds whose nests, built with clay reach 60 cm.
