Vice Ministry of Tourism shortlists RIOHACHA BEACH TO IMPLEMENT INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION BLUE FLAG

Blue Flag ecolabel, granted by the European Foundation for Education (FEE) is the international certification to beaches that have sound environmental management. In the last term, Colombia managed to be included and aims to certify at least one end of the beach before 2017 .

Primary information yielded by Corpoguajira and Dimar, It is including some studies on the current state of urban beach Riohacha, were vital to the inclusion of our capital within the twelve shortlisted beaches in San Andrés also include and Santamarta.

To fulfill the requirements that allow the selection of the pilot phase comprised only five beaches nationwide, a technical committee which will have the full support of the Vice Ministry of Tourism was created.

It should be noted that 48 were the coastal municipalities invited by the Vice Ministry to apply for preselection.

The beach area for the study ranges from the Cultural Center to the district Villa Fátima. The documentation required by the F.E.E. forces include Riito area within the Land Use Plan to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning, protection and management of territory applicable in physical space under study.
