VILLA MARTÍN, ADOPTS THE TRASH PROGRAM ZERO

Zero waste is the approach adopted by local populations Corpoguajira in trying to reduce solid waste, while promoting the generation of resilient economies through strategies that improve the quality of life, rebuilding the soil, the prevention of diseases and the recovery of materials for the reuse and transformation of garbage, creating new business and job opportunities.

The Zero Waste approach, started in this 2018 in the village of Villa Martín in Riohacha, and it will work especially in indigenous populations of the department of La Guajira looking for job opportunities, improving the local economy and promoting the implementation of a supported business activity in what many cases might consider useless.

The objectives of the Zero Waste approach are based on effective reduction practices, reuse, responsibility in the use of toxic products, recycling, composting with organic materials, empowerment of communities and prohibition of the incineration and burial of toxic waste to avoid the production of leachates that contaminate water sources and land.

Zero Waste seeks to initially generate responsible awareness with the environment until it becomes a habit of life in the communities, For this, Corpoguajira includes in its blog spaces to disseminate knowledge through workshops for the elaboration of crafts with recyclable material., Ecological days through the Environmental Culture on Wheels program.

By implementing this program we will achieve a reduction in garbage production, fundamental aspect for the future of our planet and our peoples We are responsible for today's disposable societies that create and dispose of large amounts of waste every day.
