In its commitment to conserve and preserve the wildlife department, Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira has a care and rehabilitation center that takes a nursery for planting various plants, rehabilitation of wildlife and provides environmental education to visitors.

Currently they protect and rehabilitate 140 species, this being a place of passage where you are given the necessary medical care so they can return to their natural habitat, within them are: alligators, monos aulladores, guacamayas, parrots, parakeets, Blue-headed parakeets, flamencos, mapaches, chigüiros, pumas, tigrillos, nequî, cuartinaja, zorro, inter alia.

Corpoguajira within their function has managed to rehabilitate and release 75% species that have arrived this year to the center, through voluntary community deliveries or seizure of them, the other 15% is in care later be returned to their ecosystems.

Among the functions of the Center include a nursery with 8.300 plántulas, forest species, ornamental and fruit; in the year after they have managed to donate 2.000 trees to different communities in the department.

Corpoguajira is responsible for creating environmental awareness, To do this in Agroecológico and Ecoturístico Jerez Center has classrooms where environmental education is taught, care of the, management of species, Wildlife Rehabilitation, and other topics that visitors can implement for environmental conservation.
