The recovery of the space occupied by the satellite botadero of km 5 road to Valledupar was intervened thanks to the purposes included in the CIDEA and in two cleaning days more than 25 tons of solid waste.
Twenty-two institutions with 84 volunteers participated in this new purpose of recovery of public spaces whose purely environmental objective results in the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of the sector and sanitary conditions of the capital of Guajira.
These alliances of institutions that CIDEA brings together carry out actions with evident changes, especially in the recovery of public spaces, city neighborhoods and beach areas.
Corpoguajira and its allies for CIDEA participated in the day: District Mayor's Office, National Police, National Army, Interaseo, Sena, ICBF, Uniguajira, UNAD, PADF-OAS Temporary Administration – Guajira Blue Program, , Civil defense, Aviatours, Pastoral Social, Preserve, Junior Camera, Corprecam, Environment Youth Network, Kai Ecotravel – Community Tourism, Solera – Travel and Tourism, Angel Falls and Alturo Guajira Association.
The informality in the practice of the recycling trade as a job opportunity for the daily sustenance of some inhabitants of the community has turned the Km 5 in a satellite dump where pollution abounds, sloppiness and vectors proliferate.
The inhabitants of the surrounding areas such as Montealegre, Villa del Sur and El Guajirito suffer the consequences of the high levels of contamination evidenced in health conditions that affect the quality of life such as skin diseases Acute Diarrheal Diseases (EDA), Acute Respiratory Diseases (IRA) and in some cases malformations.
