6 RIOHACHA Wayuu COMMUNITIES AND TREATED WATER MAICAO WILL HAVE THE 24 HOURS

Climate change is a natural phenomenon asserted by human actions, you certainly are causing damages in all sectors of the country.

Water scarcity has been one of the priority problems of the indigenous population of the Upper and Middle Guajira, for whom it has been increasingly difficult to obtain the precious liquid, for human consumption, for breeding animals and crops that provide food security in the area, managing to reduce malnutrition that mostly affects the child population.

Corpoguajira in its action plan includes promoting and implementing water supply programs in vulnerable communities settled in the area of ​​its jurisdiction in coordination with the competent authorities.

The urgent need to take measures to adapt to situations resulting from climate change as it is: prolonging phenomenon child, increased intensity of rainfall and less frequent, Rising sea levels, increased erosion, gradual increase in temperature, water shortages, among other factors affecting the natural development of human beings, Wildlife Department.

As part of the problem Corpoguajira gave rise to the draft implementing actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change to drought in 6 Wayuu indigenous communities Paserramana, Savannah, Melons, Saint Paul, Ouispa and Yosumana, located in the district of Riohacha and the municipality of Maicao.

This project communities may have treated water supply for consumption and development of productive projects to ensure food security.

In each of the above communities perforation runs approximately 150 meters for obtaining groundwater, by an extraction mechanism with submersible pump, by deploying solar panels for system operation.

The project has already been socialized with the leaders of each community, addressing the concerns and explaining the scope of the activities to develop.
