Through the management of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira it is successfully achieved passive restoration of the microbasins of Fisheries and El Salado streams ecosystems in the villages Sierra Azul and Point Clear the municipality of Barrancas, which they were trimmed by a wave of forest fires during the El Niño Year 2013.
Whereas the fishery and the Salado streams are tributaries of the River Rancheria, It seeks to advance the restoration of these ecosystems isolating 85 hectares on water round these tributaries, actions that effectively contribute to improving quality of life of the inhabitants of the area guaranteeing the supply of natural resources in the region.
Ensure the sustainability of the project is critical to the efficient accomplishment of their objectives, That is why the beneficiaries of these communities have received awareness workshops and training on environmental issues achieving the population to understand and appropriate the benefits generated by these actions in the conservation of flora and fauna around them.
